Take a break...

Life has turned out to be pretty hectic these days and hence can be said that 'time is just flying by'. It was just like the day before yesterday that the New Year began and already 11 days have passed by. The first week of the year was so busy that it demanded a break and so we decided to get away from the busy city crowd and head to greener, quieter places around the city, so we could return by evening.

We were a bunch of 7 friends and it was a real good day away from the blaring noises of the city and the usual chaos of daily life. It was a rough ride though, as the road to our destination was not so good given the fact that we lost out way mid-way and we drove an extra 40 kms to find that we were on the wrong track and had to return from a place which was a dead end. But it was a good experience riding all the way to that end because we had reached the foot of the rock mountain that we were looking from far away in awe. It was a place of beauty and placidity.

We left from there after we were guided by a few people who let us know where we missed our way. From there we drove back with a hurry to reach our destination so that we could have some good lunch. After driving for an hour we reached the place we were looking for. And what a place it was! It was marvellous. By the time our late lunch was ready, it was almost evening tea time. But it was a different lunch altogether as we sat on the rocks on a hill facing the beautiful waters and had our food. Then it was time for some fun. In a few moments the sun set behind the beautiful green hills and we stood there to watch such a picturesque sun-set after ages. And the beautiful rays of the sun sparkled the waters with a crimson tinge, we left from there and headed back to our nests. It was nice time together with friends and a feeling of tranquility within me.

If you haven’t taken a break in a long time, encourage you all to take one to enjoy and realise the beauty of nature around you while it still exists!

Wish you all a fantastic 2008

Nice October

Finally, here I am peeking into another new year. It was a wonderful year at work, family, love...
As I get ready to step into another year, there are things from this year that I woud like to highlight.

First of all comes my wedding (Got married in July) - Eeeh!! I'm a married man now. (I have starting putting on weight ;) )

Secondly, I got a increment at my work place . That made my confidence grow more stronger.

Thirdly, I started learning about the stock market and tried my hand at it.

Lots of beautiful things have happened throughout this year for me and it is good to remember them and be grateful to God.

The making of Dum Biryani

"Here I am, this is me, There's nowhere else on earth I'd rather be.."

Here I am writing to you again. This one is to recall the first time I tried my hand at preparing Chicken Biryani in my Mom's style. It all happened over a weekend at our friends' place. There was chicken curry getting prepared and we guys wanted to have something special and more in quantity. So we were basically interested in treating ourselves royally on that day. So it struck to me - 'Why not try my hand at Chicken Biryani?' It was a great idea but not an easy one to do.

So I began by making my first move and it was obviously to go get the ingredients...

So when I returned, I had lots of coriander and pudina. I also had onions, ginger green chillies and a packet of garam-masala. Looking at them I felt whose gonna clean this now?? But you know delegation of work which I learnt at office worked there too ;) Delegated cleaning coriander and pudina to one person, cutting onions to another, cleaning the chicken to another and my work was only to place the kadai and begin frying the onions.

Then came the time to marinate the cleaned chicken with the masalas and mix it with the fried onion.
Then drain the half-boil the rice. Put the chicken in a vessel and cover it with the rice. Put some special juices to give it more flavour. Cover the vessel and wait for the steam to arise. Then cook it on stea till it is done. A patient enough will make the mouth watering biryani ready.

I was all surprised when the aroma and taste of the biryani turned out to be good enough on my first try. But all the while I got lost with something Ma was at hand(over phone), telling me what to do far away from home. And so it was - my first biryani cooking session. Lots of appreciation from my friends made me feel good too.

Special thanks to all those who cleaned the chicken n stuff. All those who assisted in making things ready so that the Biryani could cook.
